We have an excellent opportunity for a Development Specialist in our Houston office.

The Development Specialist will work on fundraising activities for a variety of fundraising events to include galas, luncheons, and heart walks. In addition, work involves event planning and coordination of activities such as reservations, signage, and working with volunteers for the Heart Ball, Go Red for Women Luncheon and Heart Walk. The primary focus of the Development Specialist will be team recruitment and management for Heart Walk as well as auction management for Heart Balls and Go Red for Women Luncheons. The Development Specialist is responsible for a fundraising goal of $25,000 net.

Other office related duties include managing donations; budget maintenance and monitoring; data entry, basic accounting duties, and mail and phone coverage. Preparing handouts, meeting materials, reports and presentation materials as needed. Maintaining address and committee lists, and coordinating mailings related to events and providing computer support on all MS products including Word, Publisher, Excel, Outlook, and People Soft, Seibel, Kintera, and Auction Maestro.

Bachelor's degree or equivalent
1 year experience in fundraising or outside sales
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office
Must be willing to work evenings/weekends when necessary for events.
Experience in meeting management and event coordination
Excellent written business communications; and skill with computer applications
Ability to anticipate and satisfy customer needs; to work independently and take initiative; to creatively and effectively solve problems; to work with all levels of AHA staff and volunteers
Ability to lift and transport materials and other supplies as necessary.
